“Portami a vedere la desolazione”.
Il bello di organizzare un evento come direttore artistico è quello di ritrovarti a fare l’impensabile. Come andare in giro con uno degli ospiti (il poeta e paesologo Franco Arminio) per fargli scoprire il territorio, offrirgli un pranzo e metterlo in contatto con le persone del luogo, per poi scoprire che tutto ciò che vorrebbe fare è scoprire i luoghi più desolati, per fotografarli, riempirsi gli occhi e lasciarsi ispirare, per una poesia o un futuro reportage giornalistico.
È una delle tante sorprese che ho vissuto come direttore artistico della mostra-evento Il Minturnese dedicata al “profetico” Cristoforo Sparagna, come lo ha definito Vincenzo.
Proprio con Vincenzo ho trascorso un’altra giornata memorabile, ma molto tempo prima il 2-11 ottobre che sono state le date della mostra-evento. Era luglio, con mia moglie (incinta all’ottavo mese) lo abbiamo raggiunto nella sua Repubblica di Frigolandia (a proposito, su change.org c’è una petizione per salvarla dalla minaccia di sgombero). Lì, Vincenzo, ci ha parlato di suo padre e poi ci ha raccontato anche della propria vita, di Frigidaire, di Pazienza, delle sue esperienze politiche nei Verdi, dell’Arte Mai Vista fino poi a cucinarci un piatto di spaghetti al pomodoro e servirci un vino diventato aceto.
Ideare e organizzare una mostra e un festival è un vero e proprio viaggio, composto da una meta, da tappe intermedie che a volte ne cambiano il cammino, da incontri che spesso ti fanno immaginare nuovi viaggi (e quindi nuovi eventi).
E come ogni viaggio che sia degno di essere definito tale, bisogna essere preparati (e quindi programmare ogni minimo dettaglio, dall’allestimento alla sicurezza, dal programma alla comunicazione etc etc etc) e pronti (a volte anche al peggio, soprattutto in emergenza Covid-19). Un viaggio che emoziona (soprattutto quando gli artisti si appassionano e danno più di quanto previsto sul palco, come Simone Savogin e Ritmi Briganti che pur non conoscendosi hanno creato un’improvvisazione inedita) e che spaventa (ci vuole coraggio per esporre al pubblico delle tele – per la precisione quelle del ciclo di San Francesco e della Madonna delle Grazie di Cristoforo Sparagna – che dal 1970 sono custodite in una stanza del Convento accessibile a pochi).
A proposito di Covid-19, ci ha costretti a ripensare l’evento ed ex post posso dire che non si è trattato di un limite, anzi. Siamo andati verso un concept intimo, minimalista, dove abbiamo preso letteralmente i partecipanti e li abbiamo guidati lungo la mostra e negli eventi come se fossero dei veri e propri ospiti. Così come esiste il “promenade theatre”, possiamo dire di aver creato con Il Minturnese un vero e proprio “promenade event” o “promenade entertainment”, site specific e cross mediale, fruibile anche a chi non ha potuto essere presente (abbiamo imposto un numero massimo di partecipanti, le serate sono andate sold-out e in molti hanno riempito le liste di attesa).
Non mi dilungo oltre, però vorrei lanciare una riflessione: credo si possa aprire una stagione del “meno e più” in ambito di manifestazioni culturali. Cosa significa? Meno pubblico, più eventi. Così come ormai si è affermato il “chilometro zero” per il mercato alimentare, potremmo sviluppare un “chilometro zero” culturale (anche dove non arriva la fibra).
Piccole rivoluzioni che la cultura può.
